I doubt he will for two reasons...

1) It will hurt the Administrations image; after saying how great and magical Iraq is having the Secretary of Defense resign over it makes it seem not so great and not so magical.

2) What would him resigning do but give the Democrats fodder?

In the end they don't stand to gain anything if he stays but if he leaves they potentially stand to lose some things.
