Default PUTS concert - Rap fans only pls - 06-17-2006, 04:39 PM

Went to see People Under The Stairs live last night with a bunch of my buddies - It was fucking wicked. Second time I have seen them, but last time they came 2 years ago they seemed to not even come close to the concert they out on last night, it was fucking awesome. Unfortunately there are no pics (FFSSSSSSSSSS).
There were only like 70 people in this small bar/theatre - But the energy matched that of a crowd of at least a thousand. Double K and Thes One were just strollin' around with the rest of the crowd before they went on. Hitting the bar etc, so me and one of my mates decided to go up and at least say thanks for the years of music. (I'm such a huge fan) So anyway, we go up to Double K and my mate leads with the talking, I was amazed at how approachable he was, VERY humble for a guy that's been in a group that has released 5 amazing albums.
Had a great conversation, then later on he comes back and approaches US. I was speechless, I thought that was so cool. He came back to have another little chat, and so my mate offers him a joint - Then he tells us to come over and meet Thes One, so we go say hi, and have another quick convo, what a guy - He thanked us very dearly for buying their CDs and for just generally being fans.
So they tell us they have to go get ready for the show, and go backstage (Probably to smoke the joint), then while on the stage (We got right up the front row, being the fanboys we all are) as Double K kicks a freestyle in the middle of the show, he references our nice gesture and busts out "Hey my man, and ya boy - thanks for the joint!" as the punchline of a little rap which I can't remember coz I was pretty stoned/drunk and then reaches down and gives us both handshakes.
I felt realllll special, then I tried to suck them off live on stage. No really, that was just insane for me.

So anyway, at the end of the show, we get pulled out amongst the small crowd, out onto the street....and we're waiting for my mate who comes out about 20 mins later with a free signed t-shirt, from both Thes and Double K, both with long messages to remember them by, and a free unreleased vinyl remix of a track that hasn't even made it to the internet yet, he assured my mate that noone he knows will have a copy of it. My mate who is a DJ himself was just fucking beaming with glee.

Just thought I'd share my night - This is the sort of thing that gets me off.

DEFINITELY if you get a chance to see the Peoples live - DO IT. You won't regret it. That concert, even without meeting Thes and KK, was one of the best hiphop concerts I've been too - The Roots, and Gang Starr concerts that I went to have now been bumped off the throne, and a new live act reigns supreme. SOOO much raw energy. Oh, all the memories I can now jack off too.
