Default installing linux on a windows system - 06-26-2006, 03:05 AM

i've been thinking of doing this for a while now and i think it's finally time to make that step (lol, sounds like a damn marriage or something). im gonna try and install linux onto my pc. Now, i have about 70 free gb on the other side of my hd(partitioned) and i want to install it in that area only. Is this possible or would i have to do something else that would allow me to install linux? Also, how would i go about booting from windows or linux or vice versa?

now before you answer, i just wanted to poll you guys on how has your overall linux experience been? Is it really that much better than windows (with the exceptions of the "holes")?
