The part I live in Florida is more...modernized then say the "deep south". Along the coasts of Florida it's more sun and beach,etc.. but there are parts in Florida that are extremely backwoods. Central Florida, Everglades and Arcadia and Ocala, are pretty bad. They sell snake and gator meat, live on farms and most drive pickups. They all have the "Southern" pride and proudly display the Confederate flags. In that part of the state I'd say about 3 out 5 people were racists. Most of the people there are also white, with the ocasional spanish mixed in. Around me though there's hardly any racist except for say Pine Island and North Fort Myers. Up there it's very hickish and there's alot of cowboy's and all that jazz.

As for the KKK, I actually have seen them here. When all that noise with the immigration bill was going on, the Latin community (Spanish,Cuban,Mexican,etc...) staged a large protest here. It would have been nice if they informed since I was stuck in traffic for a good two hours. In that time though , they marched down the street and members of the local KKK chapter were on the sides with signs saying "Go back Spics" and "Get of our jobs wetback". There were alot other things, but I didn't want to delve too far into racial terms. On another occasion I actually witnessed a Skinhead meeting. A friend of mine who lives in the more backwoods part of our town had a neighboor who was a Skinhead. When I saw all these people in front of the man's house I asked my friend "Yo is there a party there or something" he said "no, it's a Nazi meeting". I thought he was joking, but sure enough they had a huge Swastika flag hanging in his garage along with pictures of Adolf,General Lee and Confederate flags. Most of the guys were older, say 30, and all were wearing Swastika shirts and Southern Pride along with shirts that read "dead nigger,dead". To be honest alot of them just looked like regular guys for around here. There were a few "extreme" skinheads in the mix, but still quite normal dudes. The latest installment of Nazi's I've had was about 2 months ago when me and a few buddies road tripped up to Georgia. We stopped along a gas station off I-95 in some hick town. I stopped in to take a piss and as soon as I walked in I was hit with a wave of racism. SS flags,Swastikas,Confederate and Hitler flags all strewn about the store. Propaganda magazines, homemade liquors and plenty of apparel were around. The dude behind the counter was a little scrawny, but his two friends were quite large. Surprisngly they were nice and asked if I needed help. The store was also very clean. I took a piss and went back to the car and my friend , who's 100% spanish, said he had to go, I told him not to.

So as far as racism is down here, I'd honeslt say where I live about maybe 1 in 5 people are racist. We don't have the KKK running around or anything like that, in fact I'd say more white people are trying to be black and hispanic here.
