I would say that yes, the state of Israel was a mistake. But this is the reality.
It's a fubared situation. UN isn't and can't do shit, they never do, and things will go on as they have been for the last, what, 1,000 years?
I think thats a realistic look at it. Maybe it's pessimistic, but I don't see much changing.

It's too hard to disarm random civilians and I don't think it'll ever happen (just like Iraq and Afghanistan).
People are just going to keep dying. With a world that can see live images and communicate with eachother within milliseconds, I don't see anything changing. If it was a few hundred years ago, I think one group would just destroy the other until nothing was left and winner takes all. Something like that would never happen today.
