There's a little joke between my friends & I saying that 'these are the best times we'll never remember.' Getting a little mashed most weekends & going out to party has been great for me. Prior to that I'd just sit indoors at weekends playing Combat Flight Simulator online, I'd go out occasionally but just find the social scene completely boring.

I don't really like the taste of beer or alcohol, I'd rather have a coke or something when just going out for a drink. But if I'm going out to party alcohol is a lot of help. I wouldn't take back a single second from the effects of getting mashed & clubbing. I'm not naturally a really out-going party person when with strangers, but when in the company of some mates & after a few drinks it can certainly boost ones confidence with 'dutch courage'. A few drinks make you a lot more sociable & outgoing.

If you don't want to drink because of health I can understand that, but having just a few drinks every now & then won't have any effect whatsoever, infact having a drink now & then is usually quite good for you. I have got utterly wasted before at some parties & I don't particuarly like that, the key is to know ones limits.

p.s. I hate scene/straight-edge kids as much as emo kids! Though I'm sure they're lovely people. from my experience the scene/emo/straightedge kids around here don't party just to stay pure & cool, which is gay. I've been to their 'gatherings' & they suck! Just a bunch of hippie art students sitting round playing the guitar & watching tv oOo:
