Yeah butters, it's always, ALWAYS the pitching. You can have the best lineup in the league, but if you have the type of pitching NYY has (which is a rotation that is very inconsistent and has some huge gaps in it) then you're never going to be one of the best. You can't get away with that in the post season.
Look at the Texas Rangers (my team, yes I know I should slit my cock now). They have a great lineup, with 3-5 young great ballplayers that can hit and get enough runs per game to be a great team. Problem is, their pitching is incredibly young and, while showing some potential, just doesn't have that experience to be a great or even a good rotation.
