Then again theres that many ww2 games and mods Ro just came onto the scene far too late to have any big impact regardless of its gameplay style.
So you're saying RO should have been a piece of shit like Call of Duty 2's MP, or Return to Castle Wolfenstein? Personally I don't think it is that realistic (America's Army or Rainbow Six if you want that). The reason I don't think of RO as being a realistic game is I use a lot of unrealistic tactics to get kill/death ratios of 70-31 (yes on matches, just got that earlier tonight). I frequently use a dive/shoot maneuver where you simultaneously do both and the shot is dead accurate. I use a dive/bayonet maneuver that allows me to get bayo kills from 5+ feet away at times. I almost never stop running and gunning, and I do all of this with a bolt-action rifle. There's probably more ways to ghey up RO than there were in MOHAA's MP (Still a great MP IMO). I say there's more because there are so many bugs that the developers need to fix. Bottom line is, the game doesn't have to be boring if you play it a certain way. We run a custom map that when we have 32 men on it's complete chaos with 50 grenades going off and people hipshooting all over the place.

And who cares how many people play a certain game? There's about 30 active clans who play RO. I judge a game's popularity by the number of active clans who play a lot of matches. MOHAA used to have tons of active clans. Now there's only 5, maybe. MOHAA is well past being dead. Call of Duty only has about 4 active clans on TWL's 6 v 6. It's dead. All of the RO clans use their own ladder, roladder.net. There's at least 5 matches PER NIGHT on that ladder. RO may have a small community, but that community is very active and involved. Here's the matches from the past few days:

I'd say that's pretty damn impressive for a game with only 30 real clans. And 1000 people playing at any given time is well more than enough IMO. I don't give a shit if people don't want to play realism. That's simply not the case anyway (America's Army has 8 million users), but I don't give a fuck what anybody else wants to play. RO's competitive play isn't going to die anytime soon, and that's really all I care about. My MOHAA clan moved on because the competitive play died. It eventually happens with every game, but RO has survived longer than most would have thought. The game has actually been around for several years (back when it was a mod for UT as opposed to a stand-alone game).

Fuck it, I like RO, it's a leet game, and it's the most fun I've had playing a game since MOHAA and AA.
