Half Life 2 / Steam Problem -

OK, heres my problemo. Personally I don't think it can be fixed but who knows.
Right, I bought Hl2 when it was released, registered and activated my CD-Key with an Email address like you do.
However this email address was hacked into and stolen about a year ago and so far, when trying to activate my steam account with a new email address, the system doesn't allow it.
I kind of expected that of course.
Is there any way of me being able to play HL2 again? I read you can send them a photo or tell them of your receipt. I bought this game ages ago and have no receipt anymore..........think me showing them my dvd and box and cd key will be enough?
I have everything, just not my receipt or old email address.
Its just pointless in having my hl2 box+dvd when I can't use it at all.
