MDMA (what ecstasy is SUPPOSED to be) is basically harmless when used responsibly and in moderation. the problem with "E" is that 90% of it is just a mish mash or random shit to get you high... ecstasy is a filthy, dangerous drug in that aspect. combine that with little self control, addictive personalities and you're in trouble.. and i've seen E totally fuck over some good friends. but that was over a long period of heavy use, the whole "one hit will kill you" arguement is completely fucking retarded.
