p5k supports 45nm cpu's so should work with penyn. Afaik the main thing that the 38 boards brings to the table is true dual x16 pci-e slots. p35 has 1x16 and 1x4, its billed as having 2 x16 slots but one only has x4 bandwidth. And afaik it also (rumoured) to support crossfire AND sli on the one board so no bullshit of having to buy specific mobo's for sli or crossfire.
