Your all correct.
The server needs to be constantly babysat or the host has hardware issue (which hopefully are just about over). Ergo, its not allways up.
PPl have trouble installing or setting up TeamSpeak2 and rather than take 5 minutes to read the sticky uptop (which has a link to an updated TS2 thread which details ALL the known problems) and just say "screw it".
Nobody is on at a given time so instead of "idling" in a channel like a ton of ppl do in IRC they dissconect. What you may not be aware of is under the "Self" tab in the TS window you can set different away settings. My normall away setting is "Output muted" which just kills the TS audio. On my system with 512MB of ram I can leave TS running all the time and still do everything I normally do.
This is still relatively new and I understood going into this it might take a while to fully catch on. What guys need to understand unless my host goes out of business this is paid for untill Mar 2003. It will be up 24/7 unless it crashes and none of my babysitters notice.
With all that being said I want to give a huge THANK YOU to the small core of diehard users like Joe, Chickenboo, Red and about 15 other guys whos names I cant remember right now for sticking with it.
The service DOES work, it works well (when is *is* working), and if used while playing an online MP game like MOH increases the fun factor by x1000000 fold. You'll notice late at night there is allmost allways 5-10 "Tribers" on the Deliquecse channel. This is a competition Tribes2 clan and voice comm is imperative for them to discuss tactics. In Tribes 1&2 there are dedicated offense and defense teams so real time voice comm is a huge timesaver.
Keep the faith brothers. Theres like 8 of us right now and were jumping into the aa.com server
