Default Two Sound Cards On TeamSpeak! - 10-01-2002, 06:44 PM

Ever since I have started using TeamSpeak, I had wondered if you could use two sound cards in it, so one would use your game sound, and the other would only be for conversation with TeamSpeak, so you can only hear the player voices. So, I put a little bit of time and thought into it, and here's a step by step tutorial on how to do it yourself:

1.) Install your Sound card or enable your onboard sound.
-My motherboard (Along with many others on custom-built computers) has integrated sound. I have been using an Audigy for my game sound, so I automatically have two cards. All you have to do to get it to work is to enable it in your computer's BIOS. To start up your BIOS, hit Delete while you are at the black screen with the memory test while your computer is starting up. Then just go to "Advanced Chipset Features" and take ingegrated sound from 'disabled' (or something) to 'enabled' Thats all there is to it.

-If you have a separate sound card, you'll have to open up your case and put it in an open PCI slot (The white ones). Then close the case up.

-For both, make sure you leave everything in your main sound card WHERE IT IS! This is only for TeamSpeak, so you should only put in a pair of Headphones for the voices only.

2.) Start Windows and install the drivers.
-Turn on your computer and let it boot into windows. When you get there, a screen called 'New Hardware Found' should pop up. Put in your sound card's driver disk and tell it to search on your A: drive (If the driver is on a floppy disk) or on your CD-ROM (If the driver's on a CD) Then just hit next until you get to finish, then click that.

3.) Configure TeamSpeak
This is where the pictures come in:
Start TeamSpeak and go to the Settings menu and click on options:

This menu appears:

Then, select your secondary sound card under output device, mine is VIA Audio, then click apply:

Then join the server and test it out!

I know as with any hardware thing, things may go wrong, but I am sure me and other Computer savvy users (Hollywood, Rudedog) can help too. If you do encounter any problems, post them here, and if we can't help, contact your hardware's manufacturerer.

For finding a soundcard at the lowest possible price, I'd go to http://www.pricewatch.com/menus/m202.htm This is the soundcard menu. If you are not looking for the rock-bottom price, but good service my main website for computer hardware is http://www.newegg.com . It has extremely good customer service, and I'd reccomend them to anybody.

So, this quickie guide will hopefully increase your TeamSpeak expierience even more! I hope this helps you all and I can't wait to talk to you on TeamSpeak.
