Using a browser to check our router settings only works, if your router supports this features ( 99.9% of them do )

you need to know your routers IP address. This is the same address as your gateway setting. You can find your gateway setting by the following command

winXP,winNT,win2K in a dos window, type:
[code:19421]ipconfig[/code:19421]

win9x
[code:19421]winipcfg[/code:19421]

You will need to know the username and IP
username is most likely "admin" or "administrator"
your password is blank if you never set it.

The router should be setup with 2 IP addresses.
LAN or private address, that includes any computers behind it
WAN or public address, this is what the Internet see's. This is the address you give your friends when they connect to your server behind the router.
