Default Admin tools - 10-10-2002, 12:28 AM

Hi all

Have just read through the forum. I like all the projekts people have for making MOH admins job easier - really great!!

What is maybe not so great about it, it that it is pretty hard to figure out whats avalible out there, and when you find it you end up having tons of admin tools that has to be activatet each time the MOH server is startet.

I have no idea what i am asking here, so please leave the flaming for another post.

Wouldnt it be nice if admins had acsess to a Swiss army knife of admin tools?? What i have been imageing is an interface with ie Crow Kings autokick in front, here admins enter the info for auto kick, then you press next and see the "detect skins" program and enter the info for that and so on for all the admin tools out there. This means that one person should collect all the admin tools and fuse them in to one interface. Then when the server is startet you push one button.

Then the whole admin tool box could be updatet by the people that make those programs and new ones, to that one person who collects the admin programs and then this one packege could be downloaded from alliedassault.

I know, i know but i cant code angel:

If you want to run a server command in CK's AK, click on "Other" and type in the command without rcon. So you could actually find out a persons info by doing a dumpuser right into AK. No need to be in game or for other programs.

yeah dude it would be great to have just one tool with all the functions. problem is all the current tools probably stalled to some degree on crap that dont function correctly in MoH.

after the supposed fixes in the xpack some more functions may pop up but apart from that it probably wont happen without all the DogMeats CKs and theotherguy getting together and making something big togeter... or everyone goes open source.

in any event thyre all unpaid smart bastards and need to be thanked more often for what they did do.

OLE!

Very good idea but they would still all need to be able to turn each one on or off.

My top picks for admin tools:

autokick
Chat filter
Dog Meats Map fixes
Dog Meats DMZ dog tag ( All map fixes are in DMZ now )
web cfg configurator
RudeDog's RCON guide ( sorry shameless plug )

One thing i have noticed while helping rude with cfgs and rotations is an easy way to determine the name of each map like dm/whatever, obj/whatever, to place in the cfg file without having to look in moh. Is there something like this?

Thats the thing i am thinking about, it will also help newbies in getting a MOH server online. It has to be made dead simple, one button like.
Ok a newbie has to get info on the admin tools, but to get that info in read me provided with the admin tools would be a good thing. cool:

be cool if the map name was somewhere and retrievable.... if you can get it into a program you can also echo it in the game so people can see whats on rotation.

only problem is i doubt whether theres anywhere that its stored and if it was whether its retrievable. still useful i suppose even if admins key it manually for each map. good idea that.

It'd probably be easy to roll them into one install, however we are all currently just working on our own projects and releasing on our own schedules. Someone could probably write something to download the latest versions of each and help automate the installs for the ones that need to be copied manually, but unless they were working closely with all the authors it could potentially cause more harm than good. (failed upgrades, changed procedures, new config options, etc)

A single guide with some simple instructions and links to the downloads would probably work out better.

r3mix: You can retrieve both the mapname and the maplist. This will be alot more useful once the client portion of DMz is released, Crow King has done some prototyping on screens to show more info to the players, instead of or supplementing my current scrolling scoreboard method.

how is this possible?
map is created and saved to a *.MAP name.... compiled under same name to *.BSP..... distributed. ive certainly never seen anywhere that the file itself carries the title.

The cvar mapname contains the name of the current map, and sv_maplist of course has the full list of maps in rotation. In addition, most maps include a script to set g_obj_alliedtext1 to the "pretty" name of the map, as opposed to the raw one in mapname.

Easy to read via console, rcon (AutoKick) or internal script (DMz).
