Video games, especially those with sniper features, have come under particular scrutiny. Florida lawyer Jack Thompson speculated on NBC's Today show Friday that the shooter might be a gamer. Thompson surmised that an inscription on a Tarot card found near one of the shootings -- "Dear Policeman: I am God" -- might have links to gaming.

"You go to video game chat rooms and you have the proclamation 'I am God' all over the place," said Thompson, an advocate of regulations to keep violent video games out of the hands of minors.

The expression is sometimes used by gamers to declare victory and players commonly say they're in "God-mode" when their characters shield themselves or don protections that make them invincible.

Thompson said investigators should consider possible links to shooting games.

"The mayhem that we're seeing, we're seeing played out by somebody who is a marksman, either in the military or a video game setting," he said.]

This is the kind of bullshit the media is spewing out to the public. Do these morons actually want us to believe the sniper is a minor or are they saying he got all his ideas from some video games? Well, with all the killing games i play, i'm kinda getting that feeling also.....might have to load up my pistols and go to the mall to play some half-life!! Fucking morons !!

Yes Im sure america's army 3 mission "sniper school" is all the training this man has. Perhaps he uses MOHAA as his guide with its well depicked highly accruate representation of sniping.

The media needs someone to blame for the shit that happens now days. So why not blame the computer that your child is on. It couldnt be poor parenting, or the fact that the world is full of sick twisted people that will do what they will do no matter. At this point the gaming industry has become the scape goat of the disturbed planet. Blame has to fall somewhere so why not the bloody images of the computer screen.

As we all know the movies and media of today are cleaner than ever. You never see a man get his head blown off in a movie. Nope, havnt seen anyones legs, arms, and lower torso's be blown off in a movie either. We dont see anything that maybe scaring any where but the computer, and folks, that is why it must be distroyed. Video games should be a chase the bunny through a field of posey's, instead of this bloody stop the Germans, kill the alien, stop the undead realm we live in.

On the other hand, this person obviously has reality problems, so maybe he does play violent video games.... if so did they push him to the edge, doubtful... but the authorities need to check every posible lead they can. I just got off of Crow King's Forlorn Hope a while ago, there was a player use the name Maryland Killer... Thats the kind of stupid thing we don't need.

You think he's picking his victims out at random? IMO, I don't think so since we know he's a religious type and he's probably a christian fundamentalist. He probably thinks he's a prophet, or he thinks he is on a mission or something. Like in Boondock Saints, the two brothers knew who was evil and who was good, I think he takes himself way too seriously. I think his overall lifestyle and childhood are the cause, I play videogames like everybody else in here I probably killed a million people online, does that mean I'm going to go out and start killing people? Fuck no. I had never had an urge to kill somebody, it's just these fucking loonies that think they have the right to kill. I bet this guy has never played any videogames, I can also tell you he lives in seclusion, and has been an outcast all of his life, he likes military stuff and he probably was in the armed forces, he is very right wing and he could be racist/sexist. The media is just giving this guy more power, hell they'd probably find a guy just like him, strap cameras on him and start some reality show if the price was right. All that we can do is watch this guy kill somemore and hope they find the bastard and lock him up and give him treatment. It's just sad how corrupt people are and how they affect the normal state of mind.
