Questions about Firewalls ????? -
11-24-2002, 07:26 PM
Hey guys, i'm using Windows XP, which has a built in firewall, but is it anygood, or would Norton 2003 or something else be better? Should I disable the XP firewall and use something else, or what ? any insight on this ?

I have XP and got Norton. I think it would be more reliable.

....that depends on how you have your computer configured. If you have a stand alone computer, use the WinXP firewall along with another type like "ZoneAlarm" or "BlackIce".
If you're hooked up through a router, you can disable the WinXP firewall since the router has a built in firewall thats better. Also, if you host through a router, you'll have to disable the WinXP firewall.
The world is my urinal

ZoneAlarm is a great firewall proggie.
I would suggest that if you have XP to get Norton Antivirus, and if you want, Personal Firewall. As long as you have Antivirus running on Real-time protection, you are potentially safe. If you have Firewall, your safer.
