Just saw the Quiet American. V. good film. I was so surprised that it was shown to test audiences on 10th of Sept. 2001. As a result of the attacks it's release was pushed back till late 2002 (as it deals with sensitive issues in Vietnam that America was involved with in the film).
It's about a British journalist in Vietnam in 1952. SO the French are getting steadily beaten by the Communists. It shows Brendan Frasier as an American who is supposedly working with an economic aid mission. Howver, we find out that the Americans are working in Vietnam way before we originally thought.
It should still be in US theatres now, and if it's screening in Australia I guess it's screening everywhere now.
OMG The Quiet American is rated R in the States????
WTF??? There's like fuck all violence in it. I suppose because it shows America in a bad light that the US Govt. doesn't want kiddies watching it.
