Everyone's Favorite U-Boat Commander -
03-27-2003, 09:14 AM
Gunther Prien. Never heard of him? Neither had I until a couple of days ago. Here's a short Biography;
GUNTHER PRIEN
On 17th December 1938 a German U-boat was completed at the Germania dockyard in Kiel. The vessel was U 47, serial number 583, and it was destined to become probably the most famous German submarine ever commissioned. Under the captaincy of Lieutenant Günther Prien, U 47 was to become the most feared Grey Wolf operating in the Atlantic for a period of two and a half years, sinking a total gross tonnage of over 200,000 BRT. These figures made U 47 one of the most successful German U-boats of the 2nd World War. Even today the sub’s former enemies acknowledge Prien’s outstanding achievement when, on 13th October 1939, he penetrated the powerful defences of the main anchorage of the British Home Fleet at Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands. There the U-boat sank the battleship Royal Oak and seriously damaged a second ship, the Pegasus, before making her way home undamaged.
On 7th March 1941 U 47 was sunk by the British destroyer Wolverine during an attack on a convoy to the south of Ireland; there were no survivors.
and without further ado, my MOHAA adaption of him;

Team effort, i like it biggrin:
I'll give the hat a bit more texture, James, and if you want to do the Binoculars, Newt, feel free.
As for the hat, i don't know enough about skelmodel editing to fix it, but if anyone does, again, feel free

its a minor detail, in the white part of the hat, the gold emblem looks blurred, i was referring to that...and about the boots, is it just the angle of the shot, because the boots do look a little awkward...
