Best box -

What is the best box for a single 12" sub?
I am leaning for just one sub, maybe two. Running off a mono amp 400 watts max. I don't want a ticket, i just want some kick
I like Cerwin Vega's @ 60 - 80 bucks a speaker - or some MTX's which arn't all that expensive either.

sub box depends on what kind of sub. every sub is different and the vollume of the box changes, so there is no best box. You need to figure out the best dimensions and go out and look for that or build it.

dual 10 inch, in a bandpass. ohh, and don't buy 1 mono block for 2 subs, you not supposed to bridge it onto 2 subs. if you run mono, you have to run to amps. I suggest a cheap 1200 watt amp capable of 2 channel,s run both subs on each channel, while running a mono signal from the deck (that is if the deck has a sub out).
if you bridge that mono block onto 2 subs at once, what happens is after about 25 minutes, it over heats and the heat sensor's turn it off etc.
Bandpass offers clean bass which comes from sealed, with the loudness of ported.
My reccomendations are either 2 10inch or 2 8inch Jl subs, MTX audio, Visonik, or MA Audio. Also note your box is just as important as your subs, so make sure its dimensions are correct for the subs, (port length, box size) & that the box is carpeted. Besides that, have fun with it.

np, also remember to run good wiring for your power supply. i reccomend 4 gauge if your running anything over 800 peak(etc like a 800 watt kenwood amp peak, but the thing rms's at 400 etc.)

Right now the car has the stock deck, 4x6 in the doors - tweeters in the doors - and 6x9's in the back
4x6's sound like shit no matter how you run them or what brand, i think i might be able (with some modifications to the door) get a good 5 1/4" mid
but i havn't had time nor enegergy to take the door apart (missed 2 days of work due to being sick)

yikes.. stock decks are never really to good., find a budget deck with a sub out if possible.
visionik's > all others I basicly have the exact same type of box. it makes my temporary budget subs fucking roar.

it depends on the specs of the sub as well..
and it all depends on what kinda bass you want like band pass is good for loud bass sealed has a clear bass sound to it and porteds kinda like both of those combinded
