Gates open at 3 p.m. on the amphitheatre’s parking lot, which will become a virtual Cabo San Lucas with a pre-concert tailgating party and a variety of activities before Hagar and the Wabos, and special guest Montrose, hit the stage.

Tickets are going fast and include admission to the concert and the pre-concert, parking lot beach party. Affordably priced tickets at $20 for pavilion seats and $10 for the lawn are on sale now at Palacenet.com, The Palace, DTE Energy Music Theatre and Jerome-Duncan Ford Theatre Box Offices and all Ticketmaster locations.

There will be giveaways and prizes galore, including trips to Sammy’s Cabo Birthday Bash. Gates will open at 3 p.m. to “The Tequila Made Me Do It!” parking lot beach party and activities will include:

Beach Volleyball in Parent’s Park.

Convertible Car Area for concertgoers to show off their topless automobiles for prizes.

Cabo Wabo girls in bikinis.

Donkeys in sombreros for fun photo ops.

A “Sammy-oke” stage where concertgoers can sing a Hagar hit for prizes.

Mariachi music.

Suntan lotion areas where bronze-skinned bodybuilders of both genders will apply the treatment.

Zesty Mexican fare and, of course, cocktail stands featuring Cabo Wabo tequila and tasty blue “Waboritas.”
Following the festivities, Hagar and his band the Wabos, composed of Victor Johnson (guitar), Mona (bass), David Lauser (drums) and Gibby Ross (percussion), will hit the pavilion stage and rock! To cap off the night, encores and beyond will be performed by Montrose, with Sammy on vocals!

Following a brief boxing career, Hagar found his niche in the Southern California rock scene with the group Montrose in 1973. After recording two albums with the band, Hagar went on to solo success, releasing a string of five platinum albums such as 1982’s Three Lock Box and 1984’s VOA, containing the smash single “I Can’t Drive 55.”

In 1985, Hagar joined legendary rock band Van Halen on vocals. His career with the band yielded five multi-platinum albums - OU182 (1988), Grammy Award-winning For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), LIVE: Right Here, Right Now (1993) and Balance (1995) - and 10 number-one singles including “Right Now,” “Why Can’t This Be Love” and “Top of the World.”

Hagar released Marching to Mars, his first solo album in more than a decade, in 1997. The album reached Billboard’s 20 Top-Selling Rock Albums, re-establishing his reputation as a solo artist. He followed up with Red Voodoo two years later and its #1 rock single “Mas Tequila.”

His most recent single “Let Me Take You There” topped Mediabase’s National Classic Rock charts at number one just two weeks after its release. The single is available for download, with a link on Hagar’s web site: redrocker.com.

Montrose was formed by Ronnie Montrose in the early 1970s and is known for such hits as “Rock Candy,” “Space Station No. 5” and “Bad Motor Scooter.” Rounding out the Detroit Montrose line-up with Sammy and Ronnie are original members Bill Church (bass) and Denny Carmassi (drums).

Sammy Hagar and the Wabos “The Tequila Made Me Do It?” with special guest Montrose is part of the Miller Genuine Draft Concert Series at DTE Energy Music Theatre.

They're emo enough - all the black clothes and depressing sounds, and plus everyone at the NIN discussion threads has a signature that usually goes along the lines of "This world rejects me, Im not accepted here, etc.."

Haha, no way. I saw that thing on the internetz and got so creeped out...then again, my dad listens to Prince, too, who's even more of a fruitcake.

Umm, Emo means emotional. Just because you wear dark clothes doesn't make you emo. Its not some new style that recently sprung up. Emo has been around since the dawn of pop punk and has been recently mainstreamed by the clothing (former style being the sweater vest) and trends.

NIN is industrial, for all the mechanised sounds and loops they play, while being accompanied by other instraments.

Either way, fuck all this genre shit . happy:

Better than 1978 Roth? No.

Better than 2005 Roth? Definitely.
