What Magazines do you read? -
07-25-2005, 11:39 PM
Alright, this is a two-part topic...but I'll go with the first part first...
What magazines do you read?
Ok, now that thats done, I'm wondering which of these two magazines you guys recommend...Car & Driver or Motor Trend. See, Im not a giant car techie, but I know lots of the basics, thanks to my dad.
Car & Driver seems more veered to serious gearheads, and I can learn plenty of stuff from them, but I sort of like Motor Trends "fun" style of writing better, even though half of their articles usually have to do with the "cool factor", which I dont really care for, because I can just as easily decide if a car is "cool".
Wellllll.... I read: (POST PICS!!!!!!)

PCGAMER - Well, to tell you the truth, I stopped suscribing to them, and stopped buying issues. Truthfully, it just doesnt seem worth it anymore, now that I have DSL and a whole bunch of gaming websites out there, and plus, the magazines getting old, and I hardly ever read any of the previews because half of the games (HELLGATE: LONDON!!!!!111 WARHAMMER 50K!!! DUNGEONS AND DWAGONS...ONLINE!) are either boring, or too geeky for my tastes. Im looking to CGW, but then again, Im better off not reading them at all.

Rolling Stone - Been picking these up since the end of May and think they're pretty great, as they're a magazine that covers all types of music (Not that I listen to any other besides rock) and whats happening behind scenes and the usual stuff. Its just the celebrity/politcal stuff that turns me off, but thankfully, they only take up a small space of each issue.

Car & Driver - Im picking up these a lot more than Motor Trend really because Im more familiar with them, as I used to read them a lot (and, roflicious, never understood a damn thing during that age) when I was around 10 years old.
And a occasional issue of MAD, though over the years I've found them to be less funn3h. You guy's all know what it is.

ha me too, been getting i since... hell I have a 97 issue in sight and I know its not the oldest I have, probably since 96, my dad got a free subscription for some reason, this was before I knew anything about PC games or computers at all, I just liked the demos and would beg my dad to install them on his PC. I remember playing Myst when it came out, and loadrunner on the 'ol 64. But anyways, yeah its just alot easier to find reviews on the net these days.

I used to read The Source back in the day, before Benzino and before the bullshit over-commercialised crap it is now. I haven't found a totally decent replacement in terms of music that I listen too. So I buy varying hiphop magazines by the issue, same for other music mags, like Rip It Up, Real Groove, Rolling Stone, etc.
My regular reads include, FHM, Ralph, and Empire.
