mah zune -
08-10-2007, 06:25 AM
well after having numberous ipods, 2 of which are busted and just generally being bored with using them anyway, and not liking the creative zens navigation buttons etc i thought i would try the zune which just seemed to interest me regardless of any of the microsoft bashing so i will be all childish and show it of;.

wahey out the box . has a large "welcome to the social" slogan on the other side which sounds like some dodgy japanese use of english. the navigation of the thing is quite simple, its not a spin wheel like the ipod, more just click up down right left for fast forward/volume and so on with a back button, then a pause/play button on either side of it.

wahey nice big clear screen for movies, simpsons movie playing here, think there is not the widest movie format compatabilty with zune, but with the right conversion program any lovely divx dvd rip looks nice as a wmv. simpsons movie weighs in at 500mb which is quite good compared to the mp4 format size rips the ipod uses.

the radio is a nice touch, tunes good and got good signal but i dont listen to radio much anyway. displays lovely artwork as it plays and the zune music software is ok, bit , laggy at time with going through all the artwork thumbnails music, very similar if you ever used windows media player library thingy if you ever used that.

and thats it really, just like to show off me new gizmo which i really like, only thing is its a bit chunkier than the ipod, but the quality of build shines through.
anyone else here got a zune?

Looks slick! Hopefully you get more miles out of it than the iPod.

what size ipod did you have? my sister uses a nano, and the thing crapped out on her like 2 or 3 times, had to send it off to be replaced.

I have an iPod now. As soon as it takes a shit, I'm Zuning it up. I just with you could use it as an portable harddrive w/o going through all kinds of registry hacks.

Cool. They're supposed to be bringing out new versions at the end of the year. How much did you pay for that electronic device (if you don't mind me asking) ?

nice player there.
How do you like the headphone earbuds it came with? They're pretty damn good for just a normal earbud. I like the magnets on the outside so they stick together nicely and avoid tangles. I wouldn't use them though, since I don't really like the regular earbud feel.

I've never had an iPod fail on me. My first I still use as a 40 gig HD, second one got crushed by a bus ( my own fault). I just learned how to get videos on my new video so ive been putting my favorite movies and shows from dvds to my iPod. That Zune does look nice though. My only complaint about the iPod is the size of the screen.

Zune is nice, big screen, but its a big player, its like a damn cassettes player, if it was thinner and was made in an 80GB also they would sell a lot more.
