What is a MAX_PATCH_PLANES ERROR and how do I solve it? The map was almost done (at least the brushes, textures, patches, models and LOD), and now this error crashes the level every time I try to run it... Please, anyone...?

Arens.

The visible brush face is being split too many times. Extra vertex points are created by q3map on visible face edges, where they are split by other visible face points (corners, or vertices). So if you have too many visible face points touching the edges of another face, that particular face will be split many times and have many vertex points.

You need to track down the offending brush and remove it

I had the same problem. I solved it by creating a new, blank map. Next step was to create a 'prefab' of all the buildings etc that I wanted to use without re-building. Then I dropped the prefabs into the new map, make sure they are on the grid. You probably need to snap/align them to the grid also, then look for errors.......BIG pain in the ass. My rework was pretty painless considering I was nearly finished too. Now I've reworked the entire thing to cut my vis. Never ending process!

So the problem wi;; probably be some brush face that is being touched by too many other brush or patch mesh faces? im gonna try find what is the problem... anyways my map has got large patches withr a terrain texture on it, surrounding it, creating sortof a hills/valley thing in the map, surrounded with hills... also I have one very long wall inside, but theres not much touching that so that couldn't be it right?
