The Rules of Action
By: Maniac of the 105th Airborne

Chapter 1: Taking Command

Commanding a squad or clan within Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is a most demanding job. The first thing a Captain or other official should ask himself is this: Why do I want to command? Is it because I want to lead soldiers? Or maybe just so I can have the power of ordering people when I want? For self-servers, command will not be a pleasant experience, usually making no impact on his fellow comrades and clanmates on a job well done.

Ask yourself these things:
-Are you dedicated enough to lead your clanmates to victory?
-Are you a doer?
-Are you willing to put your neck on the line and take risks when necessary?
-Are you willing to take responsibility for everything that happens, or doesn't happen, in your squad?
-Are you willing to support your superior officers on their decisions?

Simply put, successful commanding requires dedication, energy, commitment, and support to your soldiers.

What does it take to be successful?
-You gotta want it! You must have the desire, dedication, and commitment to lead, train, and love your soldiers.
-You gotta have the basics! The basics include integrity, courage, loyalty, humility, and respect. You either have these or you don't. If you don't, it's unfortunate that you probably never will.
-You gotta be fair! If you are fair in everything you do, everything will fall into place. Being fair is treating every soldier even-handedly and with individual dignity and respect. This means no punishing a Private First Class for something that your Sergeant is doing the very same thing.
-You gotta lead by example! The most important thing a leader can do is lead by example. If you lead by example, you'll succeed. Be a role model for your clanmates.
-You have to care! Another important thing is that you have to care for your soldiers. You must be sincere and willing to go the extra mile for your clan. Do not act as if you have no emotions.
-Have confidence! If you don't believe in yourself or you fellow clanmates then you will fail. Be decisive and show your clanmates that you are eager to win and be victorious.
-Be organized! Always have a second plan or third plan. Match not going as it supposed to because they keep rushing your weak side and crushing you? Switch it around. Time is your most precious asset; use it wisely in matches to organize yourself.
-Be yourself! Being yourself got you where you are. You know yourself better than anyone else. When you are promoted, don't be awed by the power of your new position and change your personality.
-Develop teamwork! Teamwork builds squad cohesiveness, that necessary bond that must exist among soldiers. Soldiers depend on one another, if they do not like eachother, make them. No one wins matches by themselves.
-You gotta listen to your squad! As a general rule, you, as well as everyone else, must work at developing the quality of being an active listener. Listen to your clanmate's suggestions and build upon them.

The DOs and DONTs of commanding:

DOs
-OBSERVE AND LISTEN
-HAVE PATIENCE
-CHECK YOUR SUBORDINATES
-BE FIRM RATHER THAN EASY

DONTs
-DONT BE A SMARTASS OR KNOW-IT-ALL
-DONT MAKE QUICK CHANGES
-DONT BAD MOUTH YOUR SUPERIORS
-DONT BRAG

The Bottom Line for Taking Command
-It's a demanding job
-Players need leadership--don't disappoint them
-Educate yourself and think before you take action
-Lead by example
-Ensure you make a first impression on your squad

Chapter 2: Soldier's Duty

Looking to be the best? The best requires courage, teamwork, and dedication and not always skill. A clan can be #1 on a ladder and every one of their players can be horrible. How? They use teamwork. Teamwork is essential to any clan and must be stressed upon by it's leaders. The ideal player to a Captain is someone that knows what to do in situations, and is willing to listen and carry-out his orders. So ask yourself these questions:

-Am I a team player?
-Am I just worried about my score rather than if my team won at the end of the round?
-Am I willing to listen to my superiors and trust what they say?

If you answered No, Yes, No; then your obviously not a team player and this will be frowned upon by your clan leaders. The player's duty is to accomplish his tasks, and the commander's duty is to give him orders to do so. Accomplishing a task can be a tough objective, but when teamwork is involved it can go quite smoothly. Here are some DOs and DONTs of a player/soldier:

DOs
-LISTEN AND FOLLOW ORDERS
-HAVE TRUST IN YOUR FELLOW CLANMATES
-WORRY ABOUT YOUR COMRADES RATHER THEN YOUR SCORE
-HAVE PATIENCE

DONTs
-DONT TALK BACK TO SUPERIORS
-DONT GO SOLO
-DONT DO YOUR OWN THING WHEN A SUPERIOR HAS ISSUED AN ORDER
-DONT LEAVE A COMRADE BEHIND JUST TO LIVE FOR THE ROUND
-DONT FORCE YOUR COMMANDER INTO A BAD SITUATION

A soldier is always supposed to go first and last. They're the ones that lead the battle. Opening a door on V2? Let the Captain or superior open the door and Privates rush in to clear the area. A soldiers best friend is... a fellow soldier. Don't leave your comrade behind just to rush forward. Going up a ladder with your buddy behind you? Don't run forward leaving him climbing up the ladder defenseless, cover him.

The bottom line for a Soldier
-Listen to orders!
-Be respectful to your fellow clanmates
-Teamwork is key, use it whenever possible
-Trust your fellow clanmates

Yes, useful information.... good job.

But do people care? (people as stated in other articles: the general public..... [but I thought everyone is the general public, there is no civilian and non-civilian... anyway, getting back to my post])

"People" don't care... they just want to be the winner at all costs and go at it alone. Either that or they just continually shout out orders, SPAM in other words, which is really annoying!

I remember playing in CS where you had a civilian which you had to protect and escort safely to somewhere. "People" never escorted the civilian, they just ran in to kill kill kill and be killed. (MOH is turning more into CS every day)

Clans are unfortunately the way to go... but I don't want to, nor do I have the time to join a clan (p.s. no clans in Taiwan that can speak English either!.. no I don't want to start one)

anyway...

Da Bian has spoken (typed actually)

sorry pal as much as it would be nice morons now adays dont take orders dont take advice and prefer to go do their own thing. I've tried to orginize squads before in games and it dont work. The only way your advice works is on a clan level.
