Default Any Logitech Mx500 Optical owners? - 12-07-2002, 09:41 PM

I mean own as in having one..

I'm looking to find a way to assign the extra buttons to specific keys.. It's not a part of the setup wizard. I can assign them to run specific programs. But it wont let me assign these buttons to like, the letter V for instance.

Anyone?

Hey thanks.. I owe you one.

Well, I have the cordless version of your mouse the mx-700. I've looked into assigning all those 'extra' buttons but so far no-go Even so, it's a really sweet mouse.

I got one.

Have u tried the latest mouseware that came out 1,5 weeks ago ?
That piece of software let's u configure the Mousewheel and the sidebuttons.

I currently only use the first thumbbutton though.
Works like a charm.

I find the middle buttons to be too sall to use in MOH, cant use em fast enough.

But this mouse Rox!

its been a while but rudedog helped me with this one ... i have the logitech dual optical now , but tried this with the microslut 4 button and got it to work ... assign the extra buttons to keys like page up/ down then in moh set whatever you want the extra buttons to do (strafe or whatever) to page up/down (whatever keys you assigned the buttons to in your mouse control panel) .... worked for me ... ? ? eek:

I hate those middle buttons. I did the same, uninstalled the MouseWare. Now, the scroll dosen't work properly in BF1942, and dosen't work at all in UT2003. mad:

Just look at my previous post, and put it into action.
The latest mouseware solves most issues with gaming.

I downloaded the latest mouseware...

Let me explain what threw me over the edge and forced me to return the Logitech..

Here is the MOHAA bindings in question:
-----------------
bind MOUSE3 "+moveup" // <--- pressing in the mousewheel is MOUSE3
bind MWHEELDOWN "+attacksecondary"
bind MWHEELUP "CAF1" // <-- Alias for voice commands
-----------------

Ok.. Right now while reading this.. Press the mousewheel in.. You see how it scrolls the browser now when you move up and down? Ok.. Press it again to stop doing that..

Well that's the problem!! When I press that button in MOHAA and every other game.. It JUMPS!!... That's my jump button.. it's always been..

But with the latest Logitech software.. When I pressed my jump button.. It did that universal scroll crap in the game!! Err!!!!! So pressing the jump button in the game turns mouse movement-up into voice taunts, and mouse movement-down into secondary fire! lol

I even disabled that per Logitech web support.. But the middle button still wouldn't jump. It wouldn't even assign..

Uninstalling the software allowed me to use the middle button to jump.. But that also turned my mouse into a permanent 3 button only mouse.

Default Logitech Mouseware - 12-16-2002, 03:53 AM

angel:

I have the Cordless Mouseman Optical. Plug the mouse into a USB port otherwise u wont be able to bind the extra buttons in the game. (Actually i cant remember if this problem was to fix mouse probs in MOHAA or in ut2003, LOL.) Anyway, I have the scroller set to Middle Button (dont worry, it will still work as a scroller) and the thumb button set to Enter.
Also, make sure "Use MS Office Compatible Scroll Only" is checked

You need to find out what MOHAA names the extra buttons. For example, since i have the mouse button assigned to Enter it is actually 0x00. The scroller/middle button is MOUSE3. This is what the lines in my cfg file looks like:
bind 0x00 "uselast"
bind MOUSE3 "weapprev"

To find out what the buttons are actually named, you need to run the game with the original MOHAA. Assign the buttons to commands, save and exit game.
Open c:\program files\ea games\mohaa\main\configs\unnamedsoldier.cfg with notepad.
Now look for the commands that u bound the buttons to. These are the actual names for the buttons in MOHAA.

For spearhead players, there is a bug with binding the extra buttons. You have to open c:\program files\ea games\mohaa\mainta\configs\unnamedsoldier.cfg and write the binds maually, save the file, then right mouse click on it, choose properties, and checkmark "Read-Only". Otherwise, MOHAAS will delete the key binds. My cfg file always wound up looking like this:
bind "uselast" (different from the above)

I found i had to set the file to read only otherwise i would have to rewrite this line before every game.

Also if u are running WinXP, u need to disable Private Messaging or you may encounter an inability to use the mouse.
Click Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
Scroll down until u get to WMDM PMSP Service, double-click on it.
Set Startup Type to Manual. Under Service Status, click Stop. Hit Apply.
Reboot.
