Default WinXP RAM AutoDump - 01-14-2003, 02:33 AM

I only have 128MB RDRAM, and the autodumping is constant and really adversely affects how well my game runs.

I could run 1028 res on ME, now with the same system I have trouble on 640.

I have a p4 1.5

If anyone knows how I can disable autodump, or tweak XP in some other way, let me know.

Thanks.

Bleu - Im upgrading my entire computer, but with a diff speed RDRAM, so I can't buy it in advance.

Hans - I know what I'm doing =)

The Tweak site is great. I used about five of them, and the difference is phenomenal. My ISP (I have cable) is crapping out recently, bad node I think, and my ping was around 300. I was still getting FPS in the high 80s to high 90s. And that wasn't even running in the game hardware profile they show you how to set up, which can only make things that much better. Im actually going to be able to uncap my FPS.. whoa.

I think in XP your FPS is capped at what refresh rate you have, because whatever the refresh rate is I have it set on, is the max I can get on DoD, even after typing in fps_max blah blah.

[quote="Capt. John Miller":fdbc3]how do you uncap your fps?![/quote:fdbc3]

Type in the console:

[code:fdbc3]com_maxfps ###[/code:fdbc3]

where ### is the new cap you want.

TweakXP screwed my PC, don't use it. Use the Microsoft UI tweak to turn off your shortcut arrows, that's it. Every other tweak is a waste.

You just have to pick and choose which ones you use.. like some of the settings to maximize your RAM efficiency in the registry, or an alternate hardware profile with non-essential services disabled specifically for gaming.

Also, that BootVis program from Microsoft was amazing for improving my startup speed.
