Counter-Strike 1.6 impressions -
01-16-2003, 09:53 PM
I downloaded STEAM earlier today and registered my account before the
BETA sign-up was stopped for God knows how long so I am one of the lucky
few to have my CS updated to 1.6. I haven't had the chance to play with
others yet, but from my own created game, I could check out the new guns
and shield. Here's what I think about the weapons:
Galil
One word: AWESOME. This gun will make a lot of people want to play
as Terrorist. It holds 35 rounds, shoots very fast and if you know how
to shoot in bursts properly, you should always have accurate shots. It
costs only 2000$ ! That's an incredible deal...
FA-MAS
The new CT rifle isn't as well rounded as our friend the Galil: it looks like
it packs a wallop but it's accuracy takes a while to come back even when
you use short bursts. Also, it only holds 25 rounds and costs 2250$. Some
will say the reason for this is because of the...
Ballistic Shield
This one should be interesting to watch in games: you move fairly fast
with it even when it is in front of you (doing its job). Also, the switch between
protection and weapon usage is fairly fast so you should be able to cap the
poor sucker when he tries reloading or have an even pistol fight. I really
want to see this one in action.
The new GUI interface is good looking but some people might get lost
in the sub-windows once in a while. One thing you should take care to do
is add your console in the advanced setting (right-click on CS in the game
tab to do so). When you type certain words in your console (eg. gamma)
it will recognize them and let you choose options or let you finish what it
is you are typing: I found that neat.
All in all, I can't wait to play with other people: this update looks like a
winner.

Check the counter-strike.net forum for some overseas link...
That's how I acquired STEAM.
In any case, it won't let you register...

Pffft, CS is nothing compared to Raven Shield MP, even though it is a bug ridden pile of turd. Now that doesnt say much for CS. oOo:
