Men of valor = same old crap? -
01-29-2003, 10:17 AM
Im thinking it will be, when you look at pc games multiplayer modes lately outta 3 big name games, medal of honor, return to castle wolfenstein and soldier of fortune 2, only 1 showed anything good and that was rtcw.
Wolfenstein has a good multiplayer mode mainly because it was handled by another developer and not a last minute throw together like moh or sof2. I was browsing the mov forums earlier and it kills me to see people suckered by the same old shit.
When moh was announced we got screens which looked great, then vids, then a lame ass deatmatch mp demo and an addon for it adding another level. By then i had lost intrest as it was obviously yet another game with the same bog standard run of the mill boring as hell multiplayer modes. Can anyone explain to me the logic of tdm in moh? basically 2 teams rotate round the map several times killing each other, ooh how original. Im sure hat took all of the extra months they needed for "polishing" the game just to implement that shit.
Unless 2015 get the finger out men of valor will be more of the same, a decent sp mode followed by a wanky multiplayer mode. People are gonna do the same we did when medal of honor was annouced, get your hopes raised to the roof and then when u play the game wonder why in the fuck you bothered wasting over a year drooling over it.
Maybe if some developers COUGH2015COUGH would actually listen to idea's for multiplayer and not use the same tired shit over and over the game would actually be worth looking forward to. Wonder if they'll actually put a prone in this time round and be assed animating it.
The only good thing it has going for it is sierra who are normally very mod friendly publishers.
Basically what im saying to the vets that post on mov is dont get your hopes up. We all did for moh and we got fucked in the ass when it came to multiplayer and certain moronic "realism" mods (COUGH CKR COUGH) didn't help matters. Most of u have probably learned your lesson from moh i would hope.

Gerard got up on the wrong side of the bed today. Ya i think this is probably really overrated, cause well it is the same makers of MOH. If its like that new Game VIETCONG, which suckes cock by the way, im gonna be really pissed. I bet were gonna see alot of "this game sucks cock" threads after it comes out. Hopefully its not a big diapointment.

MOH far exceded my expectations. It was a sleeper. I was hoping for big things from RTCW and was disappointed. Red faction was a game that exceded my expectations as well, but I never tried multiplayer. MOH has support issues and is somewhat buggy, but the game play was always good. Hopefully, MOV will be good, but that game is over a year away, probably two. Too far away to worry about. Viet cong doesnt interest me after playing the demo. It is a game made for campers. I cant see teh enemy from 20 yards away, even when they are moving. I hate that. MOH was borderline too dark for me to play. Maybe I just need glasses, but I dont like games like that.
Unreal 2 is out in a week. It has potential for being a rockin single player game.

don't count on it. i doubt most of the market would have the attention span for a true ww2 game

Something like dod would be good as a retail product though it needs its visuals upgraded heavily.
