What the fuck?

If you format the HARD DRIVE (you know that big ass thing with the two partitions on it), you're gonna wipe everything out. The partitions are MINI-HARD DRIVES.

You cant take a knife and cut the HARD DRIVE in two.

Partition magic is terrible. Just use the simple and easy FDISK.

OK ladies and....ladies -

What he is trying to do is NOT possible. At least not with any program I've seen. You CANT choose which partition to format since BOTH partitions are on a SINGLE HARD DRIVE which gets FORMATED...NOT the partitions. Partitions are not TRUE hard-drives, only seperated space. That space is STILL in a single unit which will be affected by ANYTHING done to the unit.

actually when you use the disk that comes with a Maxtor hard drive it allows you to format drives rather than the entire hard drive

Wrong. Use partition commander (small floppy) and make an NTFS partition of C:

Go back into Windows NT/2000/XP (Dunno how on Win95,98,ME) and goto Disk Management. Format the free partitioned space. Make sure you change the name of your CD-ROM to E so you can make the partiton D. I do this at work all the time, of coarse it's possible.

You may have to use Dynamic Disk command also. Not sure on that one though.

What he was trying to do was impossible however. From the sounds of it he was trying to go OUTSIDE his OS and format from startup. But good on him that you can do it internaly.

If you don't know how to use a computer, please do NOT attempt to make
separate partitions: leave that to people who KNOW what they are doing. mwah:

However, if you're good with command prompts, chances are you can do it
with FDISK easily enough. 1080jibber: do yourself a favor and leave PMagic
behind... ok bud ?

Exactly, i have a moron 2 streets away that pesters me constantly, "why did this crash" "how do i install this" "how do i delte this file". How the fuck do i know why a program crashes? Even microsoft don't know wtf causes 99% of crashes yet im somehow supposed to? eek:

Idiot never fails to delete system files then when u ask him "i didn;t delete anything". Bottom line is if you don;t know what you;re doing dont do it so people like me can have a peaceful time. cry:

It does just what it says it will do, format the partician. You can run the quick format, or go with a full format, just check the appropriate box.
