Chirac and Saddam have been bum-buddies since they started making deals in the early '70s when Chirac was French PM.
France has first dibs on some of the best Iraqi oil fields and has provided Iraq with more modern weaponry than any other country.
France is happy with Saddam in place.

Ooops! I forgot only the USA makes "oil" policies and sells weapons to all the evil-doers, sorry hake: ... fucken edit button etc...
