Windows XP Task Manager -
02-19-2003, 11:01 AM
ok im running windows XP with 128mb RAM yes i know i shouldnt but ill be buying some more when i get some money anyway, i want my MoH:AA to run smooth as possible i used to run Win98 and when i done the alt+ctrl+del combo the window popped up with all the programs that were open, i knew i could close all the programs except Explorer and Systray. well now i have WinXP and when i do the alt+ctrl+del combo the screen pops up but its more complicated than before, i know i have to goto "processes" and my username for the PC is marshall is it ok to close all off the marshall processes apart from explorer and Syscfg? i also know to keep the SYSTEM, NETWORK SERVICE, LOCAL SERVICE processes because i know they are important, so can anyone tell me if its ok to end all of the marshall processes except explorer and syscfg? thanks.
P.S: sorry about the way i have described the problem im never great at describing things. biggrin:

well i understand your description..so np with that.
as for what you can shut down....alot depends on what you already have running. with xp its pretty hard to detail what you can and cant shut down without me seeing what you are seeing. perhaps capture a screenshot and post it. i am sure alot can go down..but there are other things under the user that run as services that can shut down your system when you shut them off.
but for the most part...you should be able to shut them down. theres the process of elimination that you should probably take. close programs that are running in your task bar and see which process's vanished from task manager when you did this.

In the Task Manager, you can end any task that is in your username (ADMINISTRATOR, or whatever login) and LOCAL SERVICE. Don't close anything labeled SYSTEM or NETWORK SERVICE.

Yeah, that's about everything then. Did you run Auto-Config, in the MOH folder? This makes MOH run at optimal performance for your PC.

There's a sweet little freeware program called EndItAll2. One of my gaming friends brought it to my attention just a couple days ago or so. Check it out, I think it will solve your problem.
