Default new game server - 03-06-2003, 09:45 PM

My clan, Black Hand Clan, is trying to find a good ISP to hook up our server too. We already have the hardware - we just need a good, affordable internet connection with solid upload speeds. Ideally, the server will have 16 slots...12 public and 4 reserved. I've been told that, at a minimum, it will need upload speeds of 256Kbps-384Kbps...although the more, the better. Both the server and my PC will be on a LAN.

I'm hoping somebody else out there has been in a similair situation and found a good solution under $70/mo. Please steer me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

My friend has RCN cable internet and gets around 2-3mbps upload and download speed! Were gonna use this for our clan server eventually.

Thanks zck250. I'll check it out. I know RCN is big on the East Coast. Out here in the SF Bay Area they are still getting started. I've heard some good and some bad things about them...most of the bad stuff was about poor customer service though - not network outages.

Sometimes, certian game server providers will acutally provide the option of sending them a PC that you have to run your server on. Doing so, the PC is entirely yours to do as you please, and it also cuts the cost.

Thanks for the info Joe. Do you know of any websites off the top of your head I could check out? I think co-locating the server might be a good idea for us.

OC48Gaming is sopposed to be good.

http://www.mohadmin.com has a list of providers too, probably the biggest you can find.
