Canadians boo Americas national anthem -
03-21-2003, 11:01 AM
At a hockey game last nite in Montreal when the US anthem was played the "fans" boo'd it. WTF?????????? Even if you dont agree with whats going on why boo our national anthem? If my kid EVER boo'd canada anthem Id smack the shit out of them. You MUST respect the song (either countries)and show respect by removing your hat (if you wear one)

I understand why this would upset you so much (although I can't relate to it, we don't take our national anthem here quite as seriously as you do there, but I understand all the same) but this I seriously hope isn't the case...

Not telling you how to raise your children but I certainly hope that statement was figurative.
Nothing that a child can do is so bad that you have to "smack the shit out of them".
At least in my world it isn't.

Ok, I just worried for a bit there. Sorry that I insinuated that you might have meant it.

You guys have this massive irrational hatred of eachother (generally speaking).
Do Americans hate Canadians more than the French, or something?

No, mostly dipshits like pyro and superman bring down the entire country of largely decent people, but we have our share of pyros here too. By US standards, canada is very liberal, but if you look at the demographics, most of canada is an urban population, which tends to be more liberal.
I statement I heard not too long ago that I think might apply here - The problem with most urban populations is that they have been off the farm too long. They tend to forget that the world is not the clean, neatly packaged things they buy on the grocery shelf. To get there, forests had to be cleared, wild animals displaced, nussisane animals killed, crops planted and worked, domestic animals bred, cared for and eventually slaughtered and butchered. Its not a live and let live world. man is a predator, the most sucessful one at that. And we are sucessful because we can make the choices needed to survive, not just sit and say its not my place to do anything. But I ramble.....just my 2 cents.

Uhh who the fuck cares if a national anthem is booed? Any time ireland play england in a soccer match in england the english fans boo the shit outta our national anthem. Just goes to show the majority of their soccer fans are mindless dribbling morons. We never do that to their anthem in lansdowne road because our supporters are respectful.
America and canada seem to have some big rivalry going on much like ireland and england hence the reason the anthem is booed, just some assholes that have to ruin it for the rest in attendance.

Hehe, when was the last time Ireland played a match in England?
It's been a while since I attended an England game where we booed the opposition's anthem, but that's my experience of the matter.
It's sad that we have a lot of mindless thugs in our supporting contingient when we travel but then almost every one of those are not really football supporters, they are just thugs who use football as carriage for their violence.
But you're right... Who cares if someone boos an anthem...?
Americans and Canadians obviously

The last time they played was lansdowne road a few years ago, thats when some of the morons started throwing chairs onto the pitch and caused a riot cause ireland went 2-0 up inside 15 minutes or so. Still can't believe that hake:
