What are the best fighter-plane games for a budding kamikaze pilot...?

I'm just getting the hang of the planes in BF1942....and loving it!
...any similar plane based games?IL2 Sturmovik & Fighter Ace (top nameage!)
demos seem pisspoor in comparison, other than fuck-off, any recommendations...?

I'm starting to really like flying in BF1942, too. I was so bad yesterday though, but Sunday I was doing awesome.

I don't remember flying in BF1942 being any good. Hell, I don't remember anything in BF1942 being any good. IMO of course.

IL-2 is (IMO) probably the best WWII sim today. I don't know what the best modern sim is.
Jane's Fighters Anthology was a pretty good mix of realism and arcade. It wasn't totally run and gun like console games but you didn't have to do other "realistic" crap liek adjusting the radar range manually, etc.

I tried downloading IL-2 from Gigex and Fileshack but when both of em finished, I got nothing. Actually, I got some weird .tmp files from the Fileshack one.
