Chapter One
The Sighting
December 22, 1962
A Secret U.S.S.R. Space Station - 0525
"A clear image...yes, that's it...Bingo!"
The radioman was listening carefully as the reporters viligantly watched the photos provided from the recon satellite.
"Hengyang, China, vector 280, sir," the officer announced.
"Good, I'll be waiting for another transmission. The stupid Americans will never find us. We'll find the perfect hideout." a KGB General snarled.
His second-hand officer always found a way to solve things. He was the wise one. "Do you think it is right to be hiding this from the government? I mean, we have all these satellites up here and they know nothing about them. We've even developed hi-tech transports."
"No, George. Under no circumstances must the government have an idea of what we are doing now. This is top secret, you understand?" the General demanded.
"Yes sir." the Officer replied.
The General turned forward. "Good, now let's pack things up. The damn AK-47's will fry up. Come on."
"Emergency! Emergency! Emergency! Spaceship at quadrant X320,000-Y210,000!!! It has taked out our shuttle! Bring the E3-2RS down immediatly!" a radioman shouted.
"What? What in the cold hell is going on here?!" the General screamed.
"The shuttle was blown out of orbit by an unidentified spaceship! It may be hostile!"
"What does it want?"
"I don't know, but we better act quick!"
3 officers ran out the door. There was silence. A scientist walked up to the exit doorway. He peered through to see what had happened. Then he turned around.
"The men...they're dead."
An officer shouted out in fear, "LOOK OUT!!!"
A strange creature pushed the doors down. The scientist tried to escape, but the monster grabbed him. The KGB General, along with his officers, pulled out their guns and opened fire on the creature. The bullets did not penetrate it. The creature ripped the scientist apart and smashed everything. The general and his officers made a run to escape. None of them made it. Their guns fell to the floor. The monster puched the screening where the photo's were produced and exposed.
The secret station was never found by any investigators or scientists. The government had absolutly no knowledge of the base. The mystery was never solved...yet.
January 5, 1996
Smithsonian Center , Washington D.C. - 0800
"How do you like this cheesecake, Ryan?" Martin Gay, a news reporter, was out with his friend, Ryan W. Clark, an Air Force Lieutenant.
"Delicious. Say, whatever did happen to that guy in the horse Poncho?"
"Who cares?"
Both of them laughed hard.
"It's like cinnimon." Ryan detailed his cheesecake.
"Oh no, not that again! Leave the damn cheesecake alone, Clark, or I'll call the police." Martin laughed as he spoke.
"Oh yeah, and I'll call the Secret Service to tell them that you raped the President! Hahahaha!"
"Shut your mouth." Martin looked down.
They walked outside of the building. They sat on the curb where someone had messed up trying to skate on.
"How'd it go with you and Jessica?" Ryan asked.
"Not so well. We broke up." Martin had that sad look on his face.
"Broke up?! What the hell did you do, throw up on her wardrobe or something?" Ryan seemed as though he were joking around with his best friend's loss. Martin didnt seem to notice. He relied with nothing.
"I-I outta get going now. Later, Clark." Martin walked away.
"Later, Chief!" Ryan turned around headed toward the bus. It took him about a mile. The U.S. National Botanical Garden would be the perfect place to visit, he thought to himself. "Might as well give it a try."
Clark walked down the road.

Decent, although I will give you some constructive criticism. If you are wanting to make this a "novel", then you had better give some great character depth.
[quote:6adc9]Martin Gay, a news reporter, was out with his friend, Ryan W. Clark, an Air Force Lieutenant.[/quote:6adc9]
Now if this is going to be a short story, then that is fine. However if you want it to be a little longer, then you're going to have to make your writing more sophisticated.

Well, the characters don't really matter in this case, because Ryan is not necessarily the main character. He will be described more often later, but I don't want to introduce my characters on one point because that will ruin everything. eatthis: fire1: fire2: bigzooka: M16:

That's fine. I guess everybody has a different writing style. I like to introduce my characters within the story, instead of outright telling who it is. If I have learned anything about writing, it is "show, don't tell".

Why don't you make a little Webpage or something, with all the Chapters you have done, placed on the website? It would be more orginized

Yeah, I would recommend that. Just get an Angelfire account and slap your stories there. If you think they are good enough submit them to fiction fan sites.

That could be a good idea too. Anyways, back on subject.
CONTINUED...
He knew that walking into the botanical garden meant trouble, like when he was young. But hell with it anyway. Why would he waste his precious time watching a bunch of overaged flowers in a small greenhouse, he thought to himself. Stupid ass. There is no other solution. They were going to have another opening in 5-6 years anyhow.
Clark was walking down an alley when he piked up a newspaper. "C-9, second column. Metro? What the hell? That's supposed to be in the previous! Don't these dumbass writers know what they're doing?!" He gave a weak sigh, then he began to search for more articles; at least until he ran into this. "...UFO sightings appear in China? I don't get it. I could have sworn that the government proved them wrong. Freaks."
Clark turned the page, hoping to get his mind off of the quote. Again, 'Article C-9, column two' appeared again. Something's not right here, he thought. There was a sudden flash above. He looked up above and it looked to him as though there were some military recon aircraft in a perfect formation. No, they were red lights; couldn't see a damn thing beyond that. "Oh jesus. This isn't funny, um, whoever the hell you think you are. Get down from there!"
The skies turned dark. But it was only 4:30 pm; in the summer. "What the hell is going on here?" Clark thought. "Dammit, then maybe the rumors are true...maybe we aren't alone in the universe...maybe...maybe..."
Clark woke up, screaming. He had only just figured out that he was sitting in the middle of the street. It was still a bright day. He could see the closed Botanical Garden across street. People walking everywhere. "It was only a dream," he whispered to himself. "And thank god it's not true. I have nothing more to worry about." I think I'll head back home.
September 7, 1997
Marietta, GA - ???
"Metz, climbing to 22,000 feet. Paul, do you read me?"
Paul Metz, a test pilot, was the first to fly the 21st century aircraft; the F/A-22 Raptor.
"Yes. Command, this is Chief Paul Metz. I am picking up a radar contact at vector 180. This looks nothing like any ordinary aircraft. Dropping to lower altitude." Metz commanded.
The radarman in the station skimmed through the radar and found six abnormal structures in the sky, each about 650 feetclose to the airbase.
"Holy- what the heck is that!" The man shouted.
"No! Metz, to not climb any higher! Get down from there!"
"Of course, sir."
Paul descended down to the base.
The two F-16 escorts were following.
"Returning to base. Shifting to landing mode." F-16 P1 said.
The radarman suddenly yelled into the intercom, "Look out! He's closing on you! Deflect, P1!"
A control officer came running down the stairway. "The AWACS has been destroyed. It was dropping from the sky. We can't find the remainings."
The Captain came by; couldn't help but overhearing what he said.
"Then we must counter attack. Man the battlestations."
"Yes sir!" Both said.
Some man in a jeep was strolling across the runway, yelling through a microphone.
"All anti-aircraft gunners man your battlestations now! I repeat! The visitors are hostile!"
The gunners shot out the incoming targets and covered fire for the fighter jets whom were protecting the base. Army troops were being held at the base. The "unidentified spaceships" had left and there was no longer any transmission on radar. Not helping but to think what happened, Metz had gone to the Captain to have a serious chat with him. 362 troops had lost their lives that day.
December 31, 1999
Times Square, New York - 2330
"Hear the news?"
"What news?"
"Another tragedy."
"Where?"
"Montclair."
"Really? Everyone okay?"
"No. A lot of people died. My mother was there."
"Damn, I'm sorry. What happened?"
"They say that some ----ing spaceship came down and shot everyone or something."
"Nonsense."
"Well, do you know what happened?"
"I-I don't...I don't know...I just don't know..."
Clark walked away. He could see Martin crying. Well, whaddya know. Lt. Ryan W. Clark, mean friend, not very comforting, eh?
It was dark, lights were on, people cheering, New Years Eve! Year 2000 was coming closer and closer. Only 20 more minutes left and everything will change, Ryan thought.
"Well Clark, exciting? Well, for me, yeah!"
"Great, Martin."
Some guy dressed as a punk came by and mocked Martin.
Martin stood up. "Who the hell are you and why are you dressed like that?! You shouldn't hang around here, punk."
The kid snarled. "Well, Mr. GAY, maybe if you were a little more polite..."
"What did you call me," Martin got real pissed off.
"Yeah, that's right, ----head! I'm talking'a you!"
The boy socked Martin in the face.
"Loser!"
Martin got up. "Damn."
Ryan giggled, along with Martin.
"I'm going to kill that son of a..."
"Shhh...here it comes!
The lights burst in the air and the fircrackers filled the skies. It was a great day. Then came the unfortunate whistle. Some dumbass came to ruin it all, maybe, thought Ryan.
"Look! There's something in the sky!" a man shouted.
There was silence. A similar structure from 1997 came down above the cities of New York. 3,000 feet above.
"Oh shit, that's the same one in my dream!" Clark said to Martin.
Something came out of the UFO. No one could notice. It then appeared as it came to a hundred feet.
"Clark, what happens if they're hostile?"
Clark shrugged. "I don't know."
Martin was mad. "How many times are you gonna say that?!"
No response. Clark stared at the UFO, as well as everyone else.
The UFO finally disappeared as it climbed above the clouds. The people were quiet. And oh my, what a perfect way to celebrate the new millenium...
Now it was year 2000; seemed perfectly fine to Clark. No problems and no more rumors of the end of the world. "But what if it ends right here? What if we entered a Global War or something? What if there was a World War III?" thought Clark. "I've got better things to do than to worry about aliens invading the Earth. Jesus."
It is the new millenium...and the end of days is yet to come...
