Default Need some PC help! - 05-08-2003, 10:12 AM

OK, I got my box online last night, and so far so good. Just a few issues currently going on.

1) ASUS PC Probe (The Fan/temp monitoring program) Insists that my P4 is running @ 165+ degrees. I figured since I don't have a puddle o' pentium yet, this can't be true. Hence, I'm ignoring it.

2) ATI Drivers - Under Hardware Profile, Display Adapters has 2 RADEONS: RADEON 9800 Pro & RADEON 9800 Pro - Secondary. I have yet to figure this one out. We'll see what happens once I get all the hot fixes from Microsoft.

[quote="Major_malfuntion":cb092]Joe, Your using the wrong sensors on mobo. I had the same problem on mine. IT said my CPU was running at 126 degrees Celsius! I'm not in front of my desktop but I fairly certain the onboard CPU sensor is the WS***** diode. Don't remember the exact numbers after WS. Asus 1and 2 is either the mobo temp or socket temp. You'll figure it out...just make the socket the one that is higher than the mobo.

The Radeon has two entries because it has two RAMDACS.[/quote:cb092]

Sensors - meaning what, the fan headers? What's WS****** ? I have no idea what that is.

And the RADEON card - Well, in the same display settings, it shows the card on a PCI slot, which it isn't and in the Adapter settings (Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced>Adapter) there's NOTHING there! On display it says "Default Monitor on " Where it should say on "RADEON 9800. .. ."

Can anyone pickup from that?

download a driver for your monitor. I have an 8500 LE and have no such problems, but it probably is different for 9800

I'm going to install the monitor when I get home, but I don't think that will make a difference. I don't need to download them, WinXP stores the drivers.

Anyone else?

I don't know anything that particular about that board, but the video card may be a dual display -or- some secondary function like TV-out etc.

I'll take some screenshots when I get home, as it's a little difficult to understand what I am trying to say. Basically, I think I need to change the IRQ for the video card, because it's conflicting with something else. That's my guess, anyways.

I don't have the cash as it is, I just needed a new card. If I REALLY wanted to wait, I would of gotten the Asus P4C800, the 800mhz FSB board, and the P4 3.2Ghz 800FSB chip. That board supports 400mhz DDR RAM too, and has 8 2.0USB ports.

Now help me!!!!! cry:

Like mentioned b4, the 2 display adapters being shown. is your TV out/second DVI connector

Don't believe PC probe. I have seen posts of people complaining about the inaccuracy of the temp probes.

These are built onto the board, unless your using an external probe

Joe, why don't you visit this forum (http://www.hardforum.com/) and post there. I'm pretty sure you'll get a response from someone who knows. If not, do a search on the net for problems like that.

You can check IRQ conflicts or shared IRQ's in the Device Manager by clicking View>Resources by Type. Windows will assign video cards to other shared IRQ's sometimes. My USB and vid card are shared.
