Default drugs and our society - 05-09-2003, 07:18 PM

since 3,000 years ago drugs played a huge role in religion, society, and culture. aztecs used mushrooms in religious ceremonies, mexican natives ate peyote in their cermonies. both hallucinogenic drugs. ever seen alice in wonderland? any non drug user will deny the creator lewis carrol used drugs (although this hasnt been proved he did), but if u watch the movie.. i mean come on... theres blatent usage of mairjuana, and eating of magic mushrooms. we allow our children to watch this stuff, but when it comes to real life people can jump to stereotypes. sure there are harmful drugs out there... pcp, special k, crystal method, etc. but there are substances which provide little damage to ones body (sometimes less then smoking a ciggarette) such as psilocybin (magic mushrooms), lsd, and mesacline/peyote. its ok for one of the greatest bands of all time to write songs about lsd, but when it comes to an individual its a crime. sure, i do have a problem with someone smoking pot everyday, but once a week? i dont see a problem here. i knwo there are alot of nonusers here which are willing to jump down the necks of any user. i ask u this, why are u so judgemental among users of light drugs (mairjuana, mushrooms, etc.)? even msn has articles written on the effects of taking mushrooms and lsd. what did they have to say? nothing other than it can cure depression, and leave a person feeling good about life and themselves for months on end.

i think that's a bunch of bullshit. The users of pot and such other illegal drugs have to worry about their supply. Who will they get it from? Where will it be? Are cops gonna bust me? All those questions are reasons that might cause panic. About the person feeling good for months on end...wow. Maybe on the physical level during the drug usage, but other than that, i don't believe that's a valid statement. What about the families of these drug users? Many family members don't realize that someone is using drugs. In many cases, if the drug user's family found out, the family will be crushed. Trust will be lost among other things. I KNOW there will be an opposing argument towards mine that will match or rise above mine. But, for once think about the consequences on your family....that's all.

sorry, my words were fuzzy there. I really shouldn't say pot as "where i'm gonna get it". It is readily available. Also, i feel that sometimes money can be spent on better things...that only MY opinion. I still despise people who smoke pot...sorry

It is a lot easier than you think. Getting in trouble by your parents is easier than getting in trouble with the law. Obtaining a drug is just as easy. Imagine the money a person spends on a case a beer, we'll say 20 bucks. That could get you 2 grams of some chronic stuff that will surpass your drunkness and hangover. I however used smoke pot everyday, did some painkillers, and tried shrooms a couple times, but no longer just because i don't feel like it. If the occasion comes up, i might hit it, but i just have no need to do it. There are many stereotypical things that people say, but they can't say shit until they try it.
