howd do i remove the background sounds and just here the gunfire footsteps etc

Open console (press ~, or if its not enabled go to Advanced Options and check the box for console), and type "cinematic" without the quotes.

Enjoy, and no this is not a hack, its been cleared on all ladders, including Pandora ladders.
