Default Setting the server password??? - 06-07-2003, 10:47 AM

Our private server is password protected, but when we have matches we change the password so that other clans don't know our password. The problem is that we are unable to change the server password using the rcon set password command.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but it doesn't work. We've tried resetting/restarting the server, logging onto the server first, and remotely logging on using the rcon address command. Nothing works!

Is there any other way to change this password other than setting the private clients to 20 (which is the server limit) and using the private clients password?

rcon set sv_privateclients 20
rcon set sv_privatepassword ???

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

You can change a PW ingame by typing
[code:764ab]sv_privatepassword "xxx"[/code:764ab]
In the console. Where xxx= is your new password

Remember that once your restart your server. Any password in your cfg file will take effect.

To remeove a password type
[code:764ab]sv_privatepassword ""[/code:764ab]
In the console. Take not at the "". There is no spaces between them. Again if your restart your server. The password in the cfg file will take effect.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Rudedog, I'll try that out. I had

set password "xxx"

as the way to change the server password. Not

set sv_privatepassword "xxx"

Does the first one that I just listed work much. It seems to be tempramental at best.

Thanks again!

Whoops,

do you need to use the word "set" in the code with sv_privatepassword???

or should it just be

rcon sv_privatepassword "xxx"

not using the word set at all???

Thanks
