Default Download Festival - 06-12-2003, 07:42 PM

So i was at the Download festival http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk in donington. 31 may-1 june.
I have mixed feelings about it. On the up side, I was right at the front for iron maiden, and was acknowledged by them when they were singing the clansman. (i was waving my scottish flag around with my mates.)
The weather was hot. very hot. i was burnt to a crisp which was fun. great atmosphere, lots of good bands on. maryln manson was surprisingly good. the hellacopters, well they were just superb! and then bands like disturbed, and the delightfull amy lee of evanescence.
Zwan were shit. nothing else can be said. they were shit. it was a friggin rock concert and they played depressing songs. that rarley got the crowd jumping.
anyway, having to wait in line for 3 hours. yes, 3 hours, to get to the cash machine which was needed because everything there was stupidly expensive. this was not fun.
It was not fun because the kick in the teeth was that while i, and about 100 others were waiting in line, 8000 lucky bastards crowded inside the stage 2 tent got a surprise performance by none other than metallica.
leaving around 40,000 main stage fans rather pissed off!
Metallica! i missed metallica! M16:
I did think it was kind of ironic that metallica would perform at a "download" festival.

anyway it was a good laugh all round.

cant beleive i missed metallica! cry:

up the irons!

Iron Maiden were on top form as usual. If the damn stage wasnt so damn high, harris was going to jump down and take my flag, but it was impoosible for to have been to throw it, and if harris jumped down he would probably break a leg.
dammit. But it was a shit hot gig. We were all the first to be told what maidens new album will be called. Im honoured!

if that happened i would have killed him and then stormed the main stage in protest before being brutally beaten to death by the roadies.... but thats rock n roll for you.
