Default GALAXIES A HIT. . . - 07-08-2003, 11:12 AM

Despite bugs I guess.

Around 125,000 have already plunked down their change for this game, which included a free first month. So that's 125, 000 who get to test run the "final product". Games like these with no singleplayer play, I have to wait on, just too risky, and look what happened with The Sims.

I used to play Motor City Online and EA charges $15 a month to play. I played for a few months and realized why the hell am I paying for game that cost me $60 to buy. It's just another way for them to squeeze an extra few bucks out of you.

You pay to play because the cost of the game itself does not cover their expenses for bandwidth and the servers.

Your problem for wanting to play such a crappy game! Have fun trying to
unlock a "force-sensitive" character! *chuckles*

crappy game you are a fool. you havent played it so you have no idea. i own the game it rocks. best grafix in any game. this is one hell of a game. ps i heard from game dealers only 50,000 were made were you get your numbers? you cant find the normal game any where. only collectors. maybe they made 50,000 of both. and you dont need a force sesitive character to have fun with this game. i am working on being a bounty hunter. blows mohaa and bf away. them games look like 80s games compared to this. so dont talk out your ass about something you have not played. your comp probly cant handle it any way. you need one hell of a comp for this game.

I think you all miss the point of MMOLRPGs. This isn't quick frag-for-an-hour gameplay it's a persistent world which needs staff to run and update contantly, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They have to be paid.

Whilst I won't be bothering with this particular MMOLRPG (or any other, ever - Wasting 2 years of my life on EQ was enough, thanks) I fully understand why they charge for the use of the game.

For less than $20 a month (how many of you miss $20 a month? If you do then you probably wouldn't be the one paying for the account anyway lol) you get full time support for bugs, administration and updates. You also get no cheaters because no one would spend money on a game if they were only going to cheat in it, to have their account deleted when they are caught cheating. Plus, whatever payment method they use would be linked to their address... Not worth the risk.

Compare that to MoH:AA.

No support, riddled with cheaters, tons of bugs and finite gameplay.

It's two completely different styles of game, both of which have merits and disadvantages.

MMOLRPGs are totally involving games. They are an experience unlike FPS games and, providing you are into the theme of the game, they are well worth paying the money for.

So long as the content is quality they are a class apart from ordinary free online games.

Running a MOH server, even when split many ways, costs more. If the game is good, then it is worth it. Problem is, the pay per month still turns me off, especially for a $50 game with no single player. Hell, just paying for a game turns me off. I can 100% fully undrestand why people wouldnt want to buy into the concept, and not even whatever's eloquent arguement can persuade me.

sounds boring, they don't even have the ability to travel to other planets so you're liable to get stuck on some rock like Tatooine as a moisture farmer or something oOo:

[quote:f412d]It's only been one week since the release of STAR WARS GALAXIES: AN EMPIRE DIVIDED, the massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment, but it's already proved to be a big hit. According to sales figures, over 125,000 people plunked down their cash and picked up a copy of the PC game last week, and the only way they're interacting with the STAR WARS universe is online.[/quote:f412d]

Math according to Founding_Law. Welcome back son.

And I'll get this game a year later, when it at least has had some support and updates (which looking at the main page it already have), and when its priced to own.

And anyone going in there thinking their gonna be a Jedi is SERIOUSLY smoking.
