Ok, here's the deal. I have (2) hard-drives that i want to use in my new rig. How do i set them up? Do i use a raid card or set them up in a way where H/D 1 is primary master and H/D 2 is secondary master with the CD drives as slaves?
My rig will consist of the following parts:
Mobo = Intel 875PBZ
Proc = Intel 2.6GHz (800 FSB)
H/D 1 = Western Digital 30G (7200) Ultra ATA/100
H/D 2 = Western Digital 80G (7200) Ultra ATA/100
Memory = 1024MB DDR RAM
CD/RW = Plextor 48/24/48
CD/ROM = ASUS 52x
Vid card = Radeon 9500 Pro
O/S = WinXP Pro
I currently have one 30G H/D as primary master with the CD/ROM as primary slave. The CD/RW is the secondary master with nothing as secondary slave.
How should i configure new rig with the components listed? Do i have to install WinXP Pro on the 2nd H/D ?
Just get one of them new fangled EIDE connectors. Make sure its the right ones for the two hard drives. Set the little black pins on the top of the hardrive - next to the power supply and EIDE connector slot - to master for master HD, and SLAVE for slave hard drive.
Thanks Ed. Thats what i was thinking since i only have (2) opticals. I'll try slaving the opticals to the H/D's...if not, i'll set H/D 1 as primary master, H/D 2 as primary slave, CD/RW as secondary master, and CD/ROM as secondary slave.
