Default MAP File Limit ? - 08-06-2003, 11:34 AM

Hi,

I collect MOHAA Maps and presently have about 495 - 500 maps in my MAIN folder. I just collected a couple more last night and after putting them in MAIN ( after a backup of course ) I found that loading MOHAA resulted in a really dark screen and a console error showing unable to write to unnamed soldier.cfg.

I removed the 4 files ( new ones ) and the game ran fine. I added the new files one by one and the second addition messed up the load. I took out the second file and replaced it with the third and got same problem. I took out 3 old maps I didn't care for and the 3 new ones loaded without problems.

This gives me a base to think that there is a limit as to how many files you can have in your MOHAA/MAIN folder.

Anyone else have this problem??

I highly doubt there is a limit. Perhasp its just a corrupt file. Remove the maps you just put it, try again. Then put them back in 1 at a time until you find if there is a problem with them.

Default Map Files - 08-06-2003, 01:23 PM

Going to do that tonight. Got another 2 CDs of files today at work. Got them from varied sites and after running virus check, I've burned 3 CDs of maps.

Hope the humidity goes down so I can do this in comfort.

Default Probable Limit - 08-07-2003, 05:18 AM

Hi again,

Well I went home and added 1 lousy map. MOHAA started with dark screen and could not open/play a game. Console problem was ?? reopening map pak 2.

Took out 1 OTHER map and started again. WORKED!!!

Added 1 MORE map. Same problem as above. Took out 1 OTHER Map and restarted, the new map worked.

Probability of MOHAA having a map list limit is VERY HIGH. I am in the 490 to 500 maps entered. I will make a complete count tonight of all the maps in DM - TM - RB and OBJ and see what actual total maps I have.

Well I like to look at servers on GameSpy AND Internet Servers. I like to play maps that are other then French Village and Destroyed Village. The weath of maps from our more prolific users are fantastic.

I don't like to see a map being played and I DO NOT have that map.

I did find a bug in MOHAA that crashes MOHAA if you have over approximately 490-495 maps in your MAIN folder. I will research it more and question EA about it. Ho HO for an answer.
