Default moniter not working HELP!!! - 08-16-2003, 02:51 AM

the moniter for my other computer isnt working, the problem is the plug that you plug into your video card, well one of the pinn's are missing from that plug.

how do you fixx that? you cant really buy a new cord because the cord plugs into the back of the moniter/

anyone know how to fix this?

I had the same problem with my old monitor, all I did was turn it off and on until it worked(it did eventually work.) If that doesn't work then try taking it to a computer repair shop and see if they can fix it

maybe it's your vid card - some monitor cables have pins missing on purpose, they don't require them

If the cord plugs into the back of the monitor, why don't you unplug it from the monitor and replace it?

well if worst comes to worse and you still cant get the monitor working, dont chuck it, send it to a repair shop to get the prongs (pins) fixed, unless the monitor is old and spewing out radiation, then id chuck it.

Get a new plug for it and splice it on. Whatever you do don't trash it. I bought a 22" Sony/Sun Microsystems monitor (glass face) and the plug is spliced on to the end of the cord where it attaches to my vid card.
