I assume you are using MOHRadiant and in this case then right click on the grid part and go to info>player and then it will show the different kind of spawn points and you can click on one and place it. But as for changing the .map file to pk3 that is a good question that I was wondering also.

simple, if your just testing your map do this:

compile your .map with mbuilder

make a new folder in moh/main called "maps"

inside maps make a new folder called "dm"
inside maps make a new folder called "obj"

put your maps .bsp and .scr into the folder "dm" or "obj" (depending what type your map is going to be)

start moh

inside moh go to multiplayer

choose your map, and play.
