Why is Jessica Lynch a hero? -
11-10-2003, 12:14 AM
Someone want to explain this to me?
They get attacked, she goes to fire her weapon and she gets a stoppage. So instead of carrying out her Immediate Actions, she puts her rifle down and prays, gets captured, raped/beaten as a POW and then gets rescued.
I thought in order to be a hero you had to DO SOMETHING. She had no choice in what happened to her. Ayone could go there, lie down and pray, get captured and then get rescued. Doesn't seem too hard to me.
Anyway, I don't know why they would send a "soldier" to Iraq who can't carry out simple IA's to fix a stoppage.
I want to hear about somebody who killed 50 Iraqi's or someone who carried a wounded soldier or something like that. But I guess this is just a bunch of propaganda, right?

personally i think everyone is a hero if they go to war.
But to take her, and single her out is stupid.

Thats unpatriotic airbornebutters. Leaving a soldier who is willing enough to die for her country, and jusst leave them. Thats cold.

she isnt a hero, its just thet the media and military overdramatized what went on. they are trying to find sensationalism in this war, and every story they can find to keep you watching the news.

The movie for the most part was about the Iraqi Lawyer that told the US Army about her.
The media attention was given to her only because shes an attractive female soldier like Guarnere said.

You people are so harsh. She's more of a hero then any of you are. And I think we all she is getting so much attention because she is a woman, because forever women have not been allowed to fight, and most of them don't want and don't have what it takes. Did she perform as well as most men would do in her situation, no, but just 10 years ago she couldn't have even been there. She exceeded peoples expectations and went into battle for our nation and got caught. Wtf have you done? Now
Now the people who were killed in 9/11 simply because they went to work, they weren't heros like the media portrayed (except of course the firefighters and rescue workers and what not). And those stupid coalminers who do a sucky job and get trapped in their own mine for a few days, they're not heros.

The fucking T.V movie was total bullshit. I bet the laywer guy was walking down the street saw an Amercian vehicle, waved them down. Told them about the Girl in the hosptial, and they went and "rescued" her.
They made the movie about her because she is an attractive, (white) female. I don't see no movie about that other female supply clerk. (The hispanic one with like 2 kids...over weight one.) Or any other prisoners. I didn't even see an interview on the news with anyone them.

I hate how Jessica Lynch is made out to be this Amercian Hero. It's so fucking stupid- pisses me off.

My wifes Air Force and I can say this much at least. She will not be praying in the fire fight baby. It will be a case of empty the clip and reload.
Its not that I have no respect for the woman because Im ex Army. I know what it takes to be there in first place , but these guys are right. Way to much media for a single POW who was only there because she didnt fight back.
