FarCry MP from SP demo -
02-12-2004, 05:01 PM
Just installed this patch and played a bit but only could find a 200+ ping server. Had about 2- 3 guys in there. was still fun.
Cant wait for the MP demo or final game to be released.

Are you going to try the UT2004 demo?
Or do you not like...futuristic type shooters?

I personally don't like futuristic shooters but there is always room for UTx, DoomX and HLx
didn't they just release UT2004 MP demo?

I wish my pc would even be able to download it. If I tried to play it, my PC would melt.

I finally checked out this demo, it's pretty darn nice. I wish I just had like an FBI-box so I could run this at it's full potential. I got everything at about 70% with 1280x1024, still looks nice. Hopefully the real deal will be just as good.

I think the demo is the problem joe not your box. people with all kinds of different hardware get a different level of detail, that you cant adjust.
Holly and I played around in MP last night and it was fun. the maps are nice but there are still a lot of bugs in this beta, demo with an unofficial MP patch LOL
Cant wait to see what the final looks like and plays like.

We were playing the mp a week or so ago. It shows some real potential, but there are quite a few issues to be worked out. Although, thats to be expected with any beta. I am definately interested. I have heard that due to the response the sp demo got, ubisoft pulled a bunch of people off the splintercell 2 project to help get farcry out on time.

Far Cry needs optimization. I can run it, barely, at medium settings (25-40fps) with my 1.5ghz Gf3 Ti500 and 512 ram machine. Yet UT2004 MP runs smoooooth maxxed out. And, it has better graphics, to boot.

Are they the same game engine? Some games are just like that, ya know. Take UT2003, Tony Hawk, and Simpsons: Hit & Run for example, they're all the same engine, which is why the game is almost fluid.
