Well I just picked up 160gigs for $100 and I want to put some of my family's DVD collection on to it to watch at college. So does anyone know what steps to take to rip them and be able to watch them from the computer? I'd like to be able to do it freeware if possible.
Thanks guys
Free tip of the day: you can rip DVDs with DVD-Shrink, a freeware program.
The files are kept on the drive even after being burned to a blank DVD so if
you want to view them with another application, you can...
Well what I want to do is rip the DVD first (I use DVD decrypter) and then somehow mount those files to a virtual drive so I can play the DVD on the computer. I just dont know what to do with all those files. I see plenty of guides to backup a DVD on a DVD-R but not to mount it as an image.
I've asked this before, if you rip the DVD's as ".ico" files, can they be watched on the computer with a program or something?
iso?
ive never done it but ive downloaded a ton that were isos and burned em onto cds and watched ... i have no idea how it works tho ... i think you have to encode and cut ... too much fucking time imo.
youll probably find a tutorial on that page i posted.
use DVD shrink to make .iso files, it will lower the resolution (you dont need full HD res on your monitor) there is no visible quality loss most of the time, but saves space
