I think I’m ready to purchase my new system. I have the monitor, keyboard and mouse, and all the software I’m going to need for it. What I need you guys to do is look over it for me and make sure everything looks good. If anything pops into your head, give it to me. I want to know what you guys think. I want your opinion. I don't care what it is. I want to make sure I cover every possible angle on this thing since I’m going to be spending a lot of money on this rig.
It will primarily be a gaming rig. I was originally going to go with the AMD 64 3200+ because it was $300 cdn. With that I was going to use the K8V SE-Deluxe 754 pin mobo, but then I realized that I was purchasing Dual Channel memory, and couldn't use it on this board. The only boards you can use it on are the 939 mobos. So I decided to go a step up to the 939. The mobo isn't really that much more, but the processor. The lowest processor for that board is the 3500+. It comes in for me at $480. That’s $180 more. The other thing I could do is just not get dual channel memory and stick with the 3200+ and 754 pin mobo. But then I also realized that there will be no new AMD chips for that board, since they switched over to the 939. So my thinking is that I get the 939 with the 3500+, and that way in the future if I want another processor, I can get one of the higher up amd's on the 939 board. If I stuck with 754, then the highest I would be able to go is 3400+. So does it make sense to pay the extra money for the 939 and 3500+?
The other thing I wanted to ask about was the IDE cables. I will have only 1 SATA hard drive and 1 E-IDE (ATAPI) DVD writer drive. So, I just need to go out and purchase one of each of those cables, plus one for the floppy, correct? I know the DVD comes with its EIDE, but I may want to jazz it up a bit. I know the SATA cable will work on the motherboard, but will the EIDE? Also, can I buy cables with room for 2 devices on it now, and if I get another drive later add on the second device for master and slave? Do SATA and EIDE cables come 2 devices ready? Also, I wrote down 1 Elite Serial ATA cable, 18 inches. Is this long enough to go from the hard drive to the mobo? I ask this because this case is pretty big. It's not a mid size case, it's pretty much a full tower. Is everything positioned the same as in a mid tower?
One final specific question would be, I’m keeping my old computer when I get my new one. I want to share internet on both of them but I don't want to pay for 2 high speed internet services. I suppose I’m talking about a network between two computers, correct? I don't really need to access each computer from the other computer, rather only share internet, and perhaps share a printer. I think there are wireless routers that can do this, are there not? Wireless would be best since the computers will be fairly far apart and on different floors. Can anyone show me a link or product or something on how to do this? Thanks.
Just a note on the cooling aspect. The case itself comes with 2 case fans already. I'll be purchasing 2 more as seen below, plus one for the processor and all that jazz. Just so you know there will be 4 case fans, not just the two you see me purchasing below.
Another note: I will be purchasing components from 2 different places. The majority of things will be bought locally in Calgary. (
http://www.memoryexpress.net/ ) 4 of the parts I will be purchasing from
https://www.mocc.ca/
Those things are Processor, Motherboard, DVD Writer, and Hard Drive. They were cheaper there than at my local store, and I get free shipping. Those 4 things are marked with an asterisk, just so you know what that’s there for.
Here's my setup:
(Remember, prices are in Canadian Dollars)

What's the verdict? Am I missing anything?
Thanks! beer:
